Madai: Hello everybody, welcome again to “talking about your favourite movie” where you vote for a movie and we talk about it, this week in our special part do it for kind we going to talk about one movie that have inspired to many generations and a princess that have become in a whole feminism icon. The movie is “MULAN” and for that we have an special guest, she is Liliana one of the persons who worked in the production of this masterpiece.

Firstly, Lili may I ask what is the story of Mulan about?

Liliana: yes, thank you for invited me, Mulán is the only daughter of General Shiao who has been at the service of the country for 10 years whose position has been as captain first while her mother is the one who works as a cook inside the concentration camp.

Madai: sounds good, in addition this movie is based in a popular Chinese poem named “Mulan’s ballad” later this was turned into a movie by Disney and became even more popular, that right?

Liliana: yes, you are right, this poem was turned into an animation film in 1988 by Robert D. San Souci and Mulan is included in the list of the Disney’s princess.

Madai: what do you think was the most important part of this film? I mean the direction, the animation, etc.

Liliana: for me, the most important fact was they represented so well the Asian culture mainly the Chinese culture, and something that characterise the Chinese people is discipline, perseverance, and responsibility.

Madai: I agree with that, and this movie have been done in live action am I right? The movie was released in March of this year and directed by Niki Caro, for me this movie had lots of impact, it begins being a poem, then an animation movie and now a live action. How do you feel with this success?

Liliana: for me I’m so proud of all we had worked on it to make it success, behind the movie you see in the cinema there are lots of people who worked for years on it, even me, so I’m so happy.

Madai: I’m glad to heard that, I hope the audience liked the discuss of today even if now we’re having this talk online because of the pandemic staying at home, don’t forget send your tweets with your opinion through the hashtag #TheMovieOfTheDay.

Liliana: Yes, and now a question from me to you, have you read the poem where Mulan are based? If yes, what is your opinion? Do you think the movies represented well the characters?

Madai: I have read it and for me, yes, it does, I know they had to do to many changes to represented with most exactly way but in general yes, when they announced the live action were being planed I had the afraid they would do it with western artists I mean not Asiatic actors but at the end they didn’t so I think that was a good point.

Liliana: you are right, when the productor change the essence of the story even the audience don’t enjoy it.

Madai: but at least they did not, so today we talked about this amazing film named Mulan who have inspiration kinds and adults that with passion they could do anything. Is there anything do you want to add?

Liliana: Just give and advice to never give up, no matter how hard the situation looks just a Mulan did.
